 The MAIN EVENT is an annual fundraising dinner dance and auction sponsored by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (ID #95-3498211).  Founded in 1980, the Foundation has raised nearly $16 million in community contributions to maintain and improve educational resources, programs and technology in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. PEF has pledged $1.5 million to the District for the 2007-2008 school year.  The MAIN EVENT is the largest, most successful, single event fundraiser for the Palos Verdes Peninsula public schools.  This annual benefit, attended by nearly 1,000 guests, will be celebrating its 25th year on May 5, 2007.

Once again this year, the Peninsula Education Foundation will hold the Main Event under the big tent at American Honda Motors, Inc. in Torrance.  As is traditional, the event will have on-line,  silent and live auctions with over 350 packages including sports tickets and memorabilia, dining, trips, entertainment, jewelry, and more.   New this year is an entire silent auction section featuring exclusive wines and wine events.   The live auction will feature a membership to the Portuguese Bend Beach Club (at least a ten year waiting list), as well as trips, jewelry, dining opportunities, and other one of a kind items.

The evening will feature dancing to the music of Dwight Kennedy & Le Jazz Hot, a premiere party band with upbeat, live music.  Also returning by popular demand is live auctioneer Dennis Rizza, a perennial favorite among the Main Event crowd.   An opportunity drawing will take place at this year’s Main Event for a Lexus LX 570, the newly redesigned SUV.  Tickets for the Lexus are $100 each.
