Autumn Harvest 2009
The Peninsula Education Foundation held its annual Autumn Harvest event at Trump National Golf Club, Thursday, November 12, 2009. Over 325 supporters were on hand to celebrate our public schools and kick off the PEF’s Annual Appeal for donations, as well as honor teachers who received Chuck Miller Grants for their classroom.
The PEF’s Annual Appeal will take place by direct mail in Novembner, and ask all residents with children in the schools, as well as local alumni parents and community supporters, to donate to PEF and support the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. This year’s $2 million pledge will support teaching positions and important programs in our public schools.
The PEF has been recognizing teachers with the annual Chuck Miller grants for over 15 years. An endowment was created when Mr. Miller, a three-time President of the Foundation, retired from his position on the Board. Over the years, he has continued donating funds to help support teachers in the classrooms in partnership with PEF.
The special evening was hosted by Trump National Golf Club, who opened its doors to local restaurants who offered a tasting of their finest foods. Restaurants included were: Buona Sera Ristorante, Café Pacific at Trump, the Depot/Buffalo Fire Department, El Pollo Inka/Inkawasi,
Frascati Ristorante, Lunada Bayhouse, Ortega 120, Misto Café, Peninsula Grill, Riviera Mexican Grill, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, Tomatillo Mexican Grill, and Yellow Vase. The Balcom Family donated wine from their cellar, and San Pedro Brewing Co. donated the Bruin Blonde beer.
