The Endowment Fund
You can make a lasting gift, one that allows you to make an imprint in your community. Giving to the Endowment Fund is one of the most powerful ways you can ensure the success of future generations of Palos Verdes children, so that they in turn may make a difference in their families and communities.
The PEF Endowment Fund was established in 1979 with a $50,000 gift from the Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation. The goal: To provide long-term stability to PEF, and to help ensure uninterrupted funding for the schools, in perpetuity. Through careful stewardship, professional investment management and gifts from both individuals and organizations, the Endowment Fund has grown steadily.
Current Value/ Endowment Spending
Currently, the Endowment Fund’s value stands at more than $3 million. Beginning in the Fall of 2008, earnings from the fund have been able to support:
- Engineering and robotics programs at both high schools, and
- World Language programs at all elementary schools.

Fund Management
The Fund is invested in a diversified portfolio, with outside management, under the guidance of the executive committee of PEF’s Board of Trustees. Equity investments, intermediate-term fixed income, government treasuries and agencies, and money market instruments are the core of its investment strategy. PEF conforms to the highest standards of transparent accounting, with financial audits performed annually, and oversight provided by an independent audit committee which oversees finances for the current year.
